• Hello,

I was wondering, i have a blog with public content and with ultimate member i also have a few pages which only members can see. The problem is as follows, members share the posts. But with the link they share they will be redirected to the “login screen” and that is what the link will say. Instead i would like the link to be with the blog header and link but when you press the link itll redirect you to the login page, or when youre logged in itll redirect you to the post.

Could you guys help me out?

    Greets,
    Wessel

  • Hi,

If I understand correctly, you want a member to be able to share a link to a post or page on your site that is visible only to logged in users. People will click on the link — some will be members, but not everyone. If you allow the Remember Me feature of the login form, then most members who click on the link will be able to access it unless they have logged out, cleared their browser cookies, etc.

For those who are not logged in, you may choose what happens by selecting the redirect option. You may want to send them to a page that says, “You must be logged in to access this content. Click here to be taken the registration page, or here to be taken to the login page if you have an account already.”

    Good luck,
    Rob

    Thanks for your reply,

I think i was not clear about the problem. If i provide you with the link you see the link and youll be able to login or you will see the content. That however is not the problem, the problem i have is that if we share the link on facebook or google plus it will show in the description “login” instead of the title of the blog and a short excerpt maybe. So this will make people reading the facebook post more interested in actually pressing the button.

I hope this explains it better.

I see what you’re saying. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a way to do this since Facebook won’t be able to access the target page/content due to the content restriction. By the same token, Google and search engines cannot crawl your protected content.
