I moved my site to https and have updated the og:url with the wpseo_opengraph_url filter like mentioned in your knowledge base.

I’m just wondering what will now happen when someone shares a direct link to my site on some social network. For example, let’s say that someone copies a link of one of my posts and shares it on Facebook. This link uses https, but all the other ones that are shared from the site will use the http due to the og:url tag. Will this direct share also get counted by the social plugins?

As much as we’d love to help, we’re not experts on how share counting works since Yoast SEO doesn’t interact with the share count feature. We’d recommend contacting the team behind the social plugin you are using or want to use as they have a better understanding of how Facebook handles share counts and what the impact is of changing the og:url.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll contact the social plugin maker.

I just thought you might know since you have an article about changing the og:url when switching to https.
