Hello! Mashshare was working fine until Friday, when the share counter stopped showing in the new posts. The old posts still have it shown, but I am not sure that they are being updated. Any solving ideas?

I installed the 3.6.2 version I found linked by Rene in another topic, but nothing changed. I tried using SharedCount, had no effect.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • @aghe sharedocunt.com should be working. Please check with their website: See https://monosnap.com/file/2lerFKUUxwYPs4FWX3bfYhVsQOfEw7

Same problem here. The share count stopped working on friday and shows 0 on new posts.

    I have the same problem

Yep, me too. I’ll try the sharedcount.com method. If the FB API is limiting hits, then simply hit them less often. Hourly would be fine for me.

Thanks for anything you can do, Rene.

Can you tell me how to properly set the sharedcount.com method? I just tried doing it and it doesn’t seem to work. I am 99% certain that I did something wrong.

    Thanks.

Aghe, you need to sign up there first (free should be sufficient). Then get your API key and paste it in your MashShare settings, right below where you switch the method from MS to SC. It worked for me when I did it today.

Well, at least it’s not just me. The share counts for my site stopped working on Friday.

@thisistrue I accidentally activated GDPR compliance, now it works fine.

Thanks for the fast responses. Problem solved.

Facebook updated their API last week. This broke the share count functionality. Until the developer updates the plugin to accommodate Facebook’s latest API, we’ll need something like the sharedcount.com workaround.

I switched over to sharedcount.com months ago. Something broke last week.

I switched over to sharedcount.com, and I am getting no new share counts on my site. (jonbius.com)

For example, this page shows an old count (20): https://www.jonbius.com/2017/08/01/ak-interactives-148-spitfire-mk-ixc-eduard-rose-name/

If I enter the URL at Sharedcount.com, it shows 92 as of this posting.

I use no CDN or internal caching. I’ve gone through all the troubleshooting tips on the plugin site.

I even white listed the URL through Sharedcount.com.

    Does anyone have suggestions?

I understand that full support only comes through the paid version, but at this point, I’m not thinking buying the full version is prudent.

Maybe it’s only showing “share” counts, and not counts for “likes/reactions” and “comments” as well?

FWIW, a few days ago we came up with some code that we put into the functions.php file to pull the engagement count from Facebook, and some code that spits it out on post pages. You can see it in action on one of the many sites we work with, 100percentfedup.com …

@tedslater It’s not showing anything… I’ve tried to set it for shares only, etc.

To keep it from reading zero all the time, I set it to only show anything after 1 like. So far, nothing, and it’s been over 24 hours.

Frustrating… I can’t find another plugin to simply hosw the share count.

The ESSB share buttons work with Facebook API 3.* … but they can hit the server pretty hard if you get a lot of traffic. Which is why we just came up with our own solution.
