Share buttons are missing after plugin update

    I was recently updating plugins and I noticed that the share buttons that used to appear when you’d hover over the Facebook, Pinterest, and LinkedIn icons are now gone. The chat-box graphic still appears on hover, but the buttons are missing (see screenshot).

    I used the “WP Rollback” plugin to try to find out what version of the plugin it stopped working it. It seems to work in v2.2.5, but not v2.2.7 or later. I couldn’t try v2.2.6 since that was not an option with WP Rollback.

    I temporarily removed our custom CSS and that did not fix it.

    When I inspect the element, it seems that the iframe that would normally be there for the button is completely missing in the code.

    Any idea what might be causing the issue?

    Could you please clear cache? By that, I mean the browser cache, see https://www.solutionbay.com/solutions/dont-know-how-to-clear-the-cache-1

    If that didn’t solve it, on which browser version and device operating system are you experiencing the problem?

    It appeared normal because I reverted back to version 2.2.5 of the plugin. I just updated to the latest version, so you can try it now.

    I cleared the cache and tested in private browsing mode on the following Windows 10 browsers:

    – Google Chrome (76.0.3809.132)
    – Mozilla Firefox (68.0.1)
    – Microsoft Edge (44.18362.1.0)

    What theme are you using?

    Actually, I just figured out what the problem was. On the settings page under Step 3 “Where shall they be displayed?” there is a checkbox saying “Place via shortcode”. We were using shortcode to display the icons, but this was not checked. Once checked, the share icons once again showed up after updating the plugin. It’s a little odd the the icons show up at all without it being checked.
