also when I use the icon + text the option to share to facebook pops up.

when i use the “official button” option, the option to like the post appears.

These are two separate things. Is there a way to have two separate buttons for these instead of having to choose one or the other.

    thanks again

Is there a way to have the share buttons just appear and not be in a drop down list? and instead just appear at the bottom of the posts in individual buttons?

That’s possible. Under Settings > Sharing in your dashboard, you can drag the buttons in 2 different areas:

    • The area on the left displays the buttons next to each other.
    • The area on the right displays the buttons behind a “Share” dropdown.

You can read more about it here:

If you want to use 2 separate buttons, you will have to choose “Official Buttons”, and then create a custom button for the Facebook Share button. You can find out how to create a custom sharing button here:

    I hope this helps.

wow, I definitely did not see that at first. Thanks so much Jeremy!

for the second part, i might be confused. Is the facebook “like” button a different thing than the facebook “share” button? When someone “likes” your post where is this information posted on facebook? or is it not and only the fbook “share” button posts something?

Sorry I am new to all of this…

    It is different indeed.

A Facebook Like doesn’t create a new entry in your Timeline on Facebook. It only appears in your activity feed, and on your friends’ newsfeed. It looks like this:

A Facebook Share does create a new entry on your Timeline, and you can add some text along the shared URL:
