• Fusing this plugin with Woocommerce during setup and making it difficult to find and to understand the implications of not installing it, is very disturbing.

Whether this really was the intention of the developers, the impression one gets – while installing the Woocommerce plugin these days – is that it’s about the same as inviting ‘everyone and their dog’ to the party, whether you like it or not.

This plugin ‘sells’ itself as ‘the’ only way that one is able to use PayPal and Stripe with Woocommerce, and leaves you in the dark about the alternatives and the implications – if you don’t install it…

It is my belief that practices like this will erode the WordPress popularity, or at least the trust of anything that comes from Automattic.

absolutely agree on this one. the woocommerce setup wizard routine should be more clear about alternatives and implications if using their “recommendation”.
