Does SiteGround’s SG Optimizer plugin work with Delicious Brains Offload Media plugin. Many of the websites we support have huge media libraries full of large MP3, JPG, and PNG files. So we have to use the Offload Media plugin to store the media images in a large (AWS S3) bucket.

In the past we have used WPMU Smush-Pro and EWWW.io image optimization tools since they play nicely with Offload Media.

However, we use SiteGround hosting a lot and would love to prune un-necessary plugins and see if we can get SG Optimizer to work nicely with Offload Media. That way we can compress images and convert to WEBP format, and also store the very large media libraries in an S3 Bucket or Digital Ocean bucket, etc.

    Would appreciate your help.

I haven’t tested for compatibility. Depends on how the Offloading plugin is structured. You can make a sample installation in a subfolder and test it.

I have tried this on one of my sites and sadly it doesn’t work.

Like @dougvos, I have large quantities of media on my site and need to offload. What I see happening is that the files get offloaded to Amazon S£ but they don’t get compressed. If I turn off the offload then they get compressed but not offloaded.

I was previously using the ShortPixel compression plugin which had the opposite problem – it compressed the images but prevented them from being offloaded.

I really need both compression and offload. It would be great if you could get this working

    Hello @skirridsystems,

When enabling the Image compression within SG Optimizer you are presented with the option to choose the compression level and to overwrite existing images.

As soon as the option is enabled the compression begins and all existing images are compressed. In order to have that option, the image should be present on the hosting server as only then the compressing algorithm can trigger.

When you get the compressed versions of your images you can get them offloaded to your AWS server. Unfortunately, it is not possible for the images to be compressed on the remote server where they are stored afterward.

In case you have a problem with the compression of the images before they get offloaded, please open a ticket with SiteGround support and provide us with the means to replicate the issue.

    Hello @lighterdayzyahoocom,

The thread has been marked as resolved as the initial question was answered. Our plugin can optimize images only if they exist on the server. Thus the optimization can be performed before the data is offloaded to the remote service.

If you encounter a specific issue, please open a new Forum thread and we will be glad to investigate it.

    Best Regards,
    Dimitar Petrov
