My SFTP server has password authentication disabled in favor of using key file authentication so I am unable to upload my backups to my sftp server.

    Hello,

Key file authentication is not supported when adding an SFTP server as remote storage. You must enable password authentication if you intend to back up your site to the SFTP server. Alternatively, you can explore other supported cloud storage options for backing up your website.

    Kind regards.

It wouldn’t be that hard to implement such a feature, Key Files are an integral part of FTP/SFTP file transfer, I would say a majority of people using SFTP use a Key File. I wouldn’t advise using password authentication on bare metal for any reason.
