sftp not working

    Things have been working fine, but not I need to switch to sftp for the backup file storage and I cannot get it to work.

    Gets here:
    [03-Apr-2017 19:04:27] 1. Try to send backup file to an FTP server …

    and then this:
    ERROR: Cannot connect to FTP server: servernamexyz:22

    I have 5 sites on different hosts all trying to back up to the same SFTP site and none are working. I have confirmed the SFTP setting with WinSCP.

  • Hi,

    As far as I know, BackWPup does not support SFTP. It supports FTPS (FTP over SSL), but not SFTP over SSH. You’re trying to connect on port 22, which is an SSH port.

    SFTP will become a future feature in BackWPup. I hope that’s ok for you. Since we can’t give you a better answer right now and you know what the problem is, I hope you don’t mind, that I put this ticket as resolved, since now you know why SFTP is not working.
