    Yes, but why?

You can give anyone you want FTP/SFTP access to your server. It’s yours, but I can’t think of a reason you’d WANT to. The media-upload tool would take care of this for you.

    Hello again..

a lot of the students do know what they’re doing.. some more than me if I’m honest..
they use the server as their piece of webspace for various projects.

There won’t be many takers, but some of them will require write access on their own folders. I’ve tried the upload url from site settings, but this doesn’t work in cyberduck. what would the path be to their folder?

is it possible to have them work on their folder without detriment to other sites?

    Yes but.

This is not a WordPress thing ?? You don’t handle FTP access via WordPress and you don’t WANT to.

Also you do understand the WordPress site folders are virtual right? There will be no /creativepractice folder on your server.
