• I’m using Arjuna X version 1.6.11 (the latest available through my wordpress Dashboard) and the SexyBookmarks plugin version 4.0.4.2 (also the latest available through my wordpress Dashboard).

The plugin works fine, and I have confirmed this with the authors of the plugin. When I use the Arjuna X theme, however, the plugin does not display any bookmarks like it is supposed to.

My conversation with the authors of the plugin is here: https://getsatisfaction.com/shareaholic/topics/new_version_does_not_display_icons_on_web_site_old_version_does and has been marked as “SOLVED” simply because they cannot “fix” the plugin because it is the Arjuna X theme that is broken.

Is someone out there able to help me with this?

Ideally, SRS Solutions would fix the theme, of course, but I guess they’d have to read this in order to know it needed fixing.

Any advice gratefully received (and I’m no expert… I can code very basic PHP, but know nothing about wordpress themes, plugins, “codex” etc…)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Yep… tried all of those. Not fixed it unfortunately.

Do you have a blog internally you could stick “Arjuna X” onto to test? It wouldn’t take long to install and enable the theme (assuming you already have a test wordpress install somewhere, of course)…

right… once I have resaved my settings, with “new mode” enabled, should the spritegen directory be empty?

“spritegen_default” contains a 223,903 byte “sprite.png” and a few other files, but the “spritegen” directory is empty.

I have set the permissions to 775 (and then I tried 777) but still nothing appears in “spritegen”.

Also, when I turn on the “like button-set”, the gap where SexyBookmarks is supposed to be on my blog posts becomes larger (as if it’s making room for the buttons), but still nothing appears.

It therefore looks like the plugin is running and has a slot to appear in on the pages… it’s just that its slot is empty.

Does this give any more clues?

I know my web host is relatively security conscious, so it’s possible that some of the utilities or tools SexyBookmarks is using to generate a sprite are not working properly…

Please let me know your thoughts.

Also, did you have time to install the “Arjuna X” theme to test against? It has to be a weird incompatibility with this theme because if I use another theme with all the same plugins ENABLED, SexyBookmarks works fine.

There should be files in the /spritegen directory after you save your settings.

Make sure you upgrade to the latest version of the plugin. It will also now let you set your own custom path, if you’d like.

I carefully update all my plugins on a weekly basis, so I was definitely on the latest version when I opened this forum thread, and I have upgraded again today (before testing again) before I made this post.

I can see that I now have the option to set a custom path, but I have no need or want to.

The CHMOD instructions say “find the spritegen directory. These are the two directoring that must have permissions fixed”.

How can the “spritegen” directory be two directories?

Either way, I chmod’d the “sexybookmarks” directory itself and all its subdirectories to 777 before resaving the settings and the “spritegen” directory was still empty.

Plus, with “new mode” enabled, the facebook “Send” button and Google+ button don’t appear either (but that could also be to do with the empty spritegen directory and is potentially a separate issue anyway).

The plugin is in “old mode” right now, so it works.

    (@fishsponge)

…but that does not mean i’ve found a solution.

that just means I’ve had to revert to the “old mode” setting in the plugin to make it work, but as a result I have none of the nice features.

“new mode” is the default now and “old mode” is being phased out.

Isn’t having it at 777 a bad idea?
I can visit your site and rename the folder or delete it if I wanted?

    Root/Owner/Groups/Others

    7-5-5 is owner:read/write/execute – groups:read/execute – others:read/execute

    7-7-7 is owner:read/write/execute – groups:read/write/execute – others:read/write/execute

    4=read, 2=write, 1=execute.

    (@fishsponge)

You are correct – 777 is a bad idea, generally, which is why it is not 777.

I said I tried 777, but I put it back to 755 immediately after.

However, even if it was 777, you cannot rename or delete the folder by visiting my site because I don’t have any scripts in place to allow you to do that, and you certainly can’t send a command to apache to say “delete this directory, please”.

Anyway… has anyone had a chance to test this plugin with Arjuna-X yet and see if it works in “new mode”?
