I installed your plug-in this morning, and now all of the sudden I’m being told by Google Webmaster tools that robots.txt is blocking my page. I’ve removed the robots.txt file from my FTP, my reading settings are set to “Search Engine Visibility can access my site”, but I’m still being told that there are major health issues with my site.

I’m not sure where this problem is coming from, and I never had this issue with Yoast. Is there a solution to this issue?

Please provide the URL for your site.

Where exactly are you seeing the message “Severe health issues found with your property”. Does it provide more as to what health issues there are?

    Hi Steve,
    The website is https://www.ovenind.com/
The exact wording of the error message is under property health checks in my Google webmaster tools account is
    “Is robots.txt blocking important pages?
Some important page is blocked by robots.txt.” And then the link takes me to my homepage.

Ok, your robots.txt file (https://www.ovenind.com/robots.txt) looks like this –

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /wp-admin/
    Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

It should like like this –

    Sitemap: https://mydomain.com/sitemap.xml

    # global
    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /xmlrpc.php

Make sure you add the correct URL for your XML sitemap.

    Hi Steve,
I did all of the updates to my robot txt file, but I’m still getting that error message. Is there something else that could be wrong?

I can’t answer that. You’d have to check with Google Webmaster Tools. If they specifically refer to the robots.txt file as being the problem and you’ve corrected that problem then the error should go away in time, you may have to be patient though.
