    Hi,

Lately all of my restores fail in a way that they start and then abort with this message when I click “Return to Updraft configuration”: https://prntscr.com/116m26t

The database repair doesn’t help anything.
After that I can’t enter my site anymore because a connection to the database can’t be established.

The only reason I got my site back running was because of a backup through my host.

I cannot tell what is wrong. The backups finish without error messages and my database looks quite normal as it always did.

Here’s the log from a failed restore: https://pastebin.com/GE6CKc8E

I hope someone has an idea.

    Thanks and Cheers,
    Stan

    Hi Stan,

Can you confirm that you are using the latest version of our plugin 1.16.53? If not, please update and test the restoration process.

    Thanks,

    Hi Bryle,

Yes, I have the newest version installed.
Error comes when restoring backups from the current as well as previous versions.

    Hi,

Apologies for the delay; we have had staff away due to health reasons. Unfortunately the pastebin link has expired – are you able to post another?

    Hi David,

I now made another backup without issues and the restore failed as previously:
    https://pastebin.com/DXvEFUr0

I enabled the WP Cron Job but that wasn’t the issue.
I also need to mention that my database doesn’t have the “wp_” prefix and I get this warning before a restore but for months that never created any problems and Updraft worked great.

    Hi Andy,

Please can you drop the current database and manually restore the database via phpMyAdmin. Does that fix the database restoration issue?

    Hello,

You mean I should go to phpMyAdmin and import the database file that Updraft created in the backup?

    As described here: https://prntscr.com/12qjary

    Yes, that is right.

    Hello Bryle,

Yes, I can fix the database like this and log in again. It also looks like before the crash. That means the database file itself doesn’t seem to be corrupted. There’s something Updraft can’t seem to process.

I made a quick screencast to visualize what happens every time: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1319K4R1bruqgbgULFn54yaWVKG-74F3f/view

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

Can you send us a copy of the database restoration log? You can find this log in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of your site via FTP.
You can send the log file and copy the contents into an online tool (such as https://pastebin.com/ ).

I will ask my colleague to check and see if there is anything that we can improve from our end.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

    Hello Bryle,

It’s a very large txt file. Pastebin wouldn’t allow me to post it but I found an alternative:

It’s from the last failed restore I tried.

    Thank you and best regards,

@bestofbonus -What DB prefix are you using?

    Thread Starter bestofbonus

    (@bestofbonus)

My database has no prefix. It was set up like this in the beginning.
I always see the warning before restoring but I still did it successfully many times with this database.

    Hi Stan,

Could you add this to your wp-config.php and try the restore again

    define(‘UPDRAFTPLUS_ATOMIC_RESTORE_DISABLED’, true);

    Best Wishes,

    Hello Ashley,

I did that. I can’t test anything because I can’t enter my page anymore, front or backend. This is the error message I see: https://prntscr.com/14kwf93

Goes back to normal when I delete this line.

    Best regards,
    Stan

    Hello,

I wanted to ask again if this is a known issue and if there’s any explanation for this behavior?

Would getting the premium version maybe change something about this?

    Cheers,
    Stan
