Several questions for large project

    I have been reading through much of the documentation, this forum and viewing your handy Youtube videos to assess if GeoDirectory will be suitable for a current directory style travel web site to be converted to use GeoDirectory. We have already tested extensively one other WP directory only to find that it didn’t meet some of our core needs.

    The existing site, which is an English language guide to Japan (GoJapanGo)has around 2,000 points of interest in more than 350 cities and towns, plus tours and 3,000 accommodation listings. We may not list all the accommodation, but we want this option.

    This raises several concerns:
    We have a large amount of existing information which we need to import, does the Import Work support the Neighborhoods when the plugin is installed?

    Does Import support custom types?

    Does Import support events?

    I think I read some where that clustering only works on the Home Page, is this correct?
    Several cities have more than 220 points of interest plus accommodation.

    We need a way to show links to blog articles or pages with information that is related to a particular city. Can this be done? How?

    Is it possible to have dedicated pages to show the locations and list all the castles in Japan? I know this could be done from the home page, but I would like to have pre-made pages for this sort of thing.

    I will try and answer each question seperatly below.

    Only 5000 listings? This is no problem, we have sites running hundreds of thousands of listings.

    Yes, all features are supported by the import/export.

    Does Import support custom types?

    When using out CPT addon yes it does.

    Does Import support events?

    When using our events addon yes it does.

    Yes, the home map supports clustering as it shows the whole sites data, on a category (listing) page the map only shows the listings on that page so there is not much point in clustering it, we have a feature where when u hover the mouse over the listing the marker will bounce on the map, this could not be done on the listing page with marker cluster.

    The location manager when installed will give you a page for each location, you can display a description of each location, i think this is what you want?

    This is how the location page works, it is essentially the homepage but limited to only show listings from the location selected, so this will work for both map and listing widgets and you can show what you want. There are also shortcodes to display these listings on normal pages if you prefer.
