Hello, I have questions on setup.

    [My current situation]
I have created a couple of email addresses with my host for websites. I use Cloudflare for DNS management and have MX record and TXT record (SPF & DKIM) on there.

I’d like to use Amazon SES and perhaps Google Workspace through Fluent SMTP for marketing and transactional emails.

    My questions are:

    1. Do I have to or is it better to set up “Other SMTP” in addition to “Amazon SES” and “Google Workspace” in Fluent SMTP?

    2. In Amazon SES, if I choose domain verification with SPF & DKIM, will deliverability be better than just verifying email address?

Thank you in advance for any input/guidance!

    One more question:
    3. If an email recipient replies to the email I send out through Fluent SMTP, where can I see the reply?

    Hello @pecopon,

Please find the answers in the following:

    1. Using the API connection would be the better option as they are integrated directly via API

    2. Domain verification will not provide you any advantages on deliverability, it is recommended that you verify the email.

    3. You can only send the emails using Fluent SMTP, the replies aren’t stored.

    Thank you

    Thank you for your reply.

I wondered about #1 because a Youtuber I’m following set up both “Other SMTP” and “Amazon SES” in Fluent SMTP, but from your answer, it seems like just setting up “Amazon SES” is fine? Any idea why he did both?

    2. Okay, I will only verify email and delete domain verification.

    3. Okay, got it.

Actually, my question for #1 might be “What is ‘Other SMTP’ used for?”
What are the pros and cons for setting it up with an email that was created at my website hosting provider?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello @pecopon,

We have created the option ‘Other SMTP’ so that the user can connect to any email-sending service. Usually, there are a lot of email sending services, and providing API connection for all of the services isn’t possible at the moment. So, the feature is provided for the clients who want to connect Other SMTP which is not in the list for API connection.

    Thank you

    Hello Amimul,

    Thank you for your reply.
I’m not technical and not sure about API, but my email addresses are SPF & DKIM verified on Cloudflare. Using Fluent SMTP ‘Other SMTP’ option gives better deliverability than not using it at all?
