• Hi,

I have just attempted an install ontom my Enomcentral hosted web space, it appears to have gone smoothly, I have all the files in the sub directory I am using but when I try loggin into the control panel I get an error, its the same error that you get if you try logging into the sub domain at its location which is: https://www.cavanagh.cc/drcblog the error message reads:
    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at mysqldb1.ehost-services.com. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

I have checked the wp-config file and it has all the correct info in it, the path to the database is correct, as indicated on my ftp server records, the user name and password are correct so I am at a loss to know where to turn to next!

it just dawned on me, the user name and password used in the wp-config file are the user name and password I use to log onto the ftp server, would this be correct? if not where do I find the user name and password for the database? I have had a look for these and cant see them anywhere! can log into my php admin control wihtout using any user name and password, via my ftp server, but its all foreign to me so dont want to mess with anything and dont have a clue where to look!

in fact the user name and password for logging into the sql server are the same as my hosting ftp log in details, verified this by logging out then logging in, rather dangerous as I wasnt convinced I woudl get back in but I did! so any helps people?

Something is not correct in your wp-config.php file. See the following video for possible solutions.

    Hi,
I have checked and double checked all the config settings and they are correct, have watched the video and that only tells me to check what I have already checked! I know the details ARE correct! but still its not working!
the details should have been correct anyhow because this file was automatically set up for me on the Enom Central automatic installation, but have checked them anyhow, and copied and pasted the details again just in case there was something very slightly wrong! I know the password is correct because I have verified this by logging in manually to the SQL server.
    Any ideas?
OH, I also set up a second word press blog on a different directory location, using a different database, and that too shows the same error.

Hi, I have precisely the same problem so please publish the “cure” when you discover it.

Like you I checked and double-checked the details on file: wp-config.php and though that I’d found it when I noticed that the HOST was recorded as host name: mysqldb1.ehost-services.com whereas it should have been host name: mysqldb2.ehost-services.com

No such luck; I continue to receive the same error message.

    SOLUTION TO THE CHALLENGE:

1st make careful note of the HOST NAME in PHPadmin mine was mysqldb2.ehost-services.com whereas mysqldb1.ehost-services.com was recorded in the wp-config file. Just hover over the symbol of that file in your File Manager and select “edit with text editor”. Make the correction if needed and save.
Then go to the sub-folder “wp-admin” and open up the file “install.php” and you should see a page indicating that you’re on the 1st step of installation. Success is then a forgone conclusion
I have Dustin at the Enom Help Centre to thank for this solution.

    Best of luck mywaynow,
    John (scotbadger)
