• On my initial setup WP Mail SMTP worked until I started using it frequently. I had to get my Host company to resolve the settings issues. It’s back working for now, but I’ll be monitoring it to ensure it stays working.

  • Hi Barry ( @barrett1308 ) –

I’m sorry to hear you ran into issues getting things set up!

While the vast majority of our users don’t see any issues, it’s true that some hosting servers have default configurations that can prevent SMTP from working (we tend to see this the most with the Other SMTP mailer, as it works within the site’s server — whereas our other mailer options are API based with third party integrations, and so tend to better avoid server-based issues).

I’m not sure which mailer you’re using right now, but if you aren’t already then I’d specifically recommend considering a mailer that does a deeper level of authentication (in our free version, this includes Sendinblue, Mailgun, or SendGrid). These mailers require more involved setup than Other SMTP or Google, but are super reliable.

And in case it helps, we’ve given a rundown of all mailer options here.

Also, if you have any questions, please know we provide limited complimentary support in our .org forum over here. Thanks!
