There are a number of options for using WordPress on Mac.
You can install a server package like MAMP. https://www.mamp.info/en/
OR
You can use the Apache server that comes with Mac OS. https://mallinson.ca/osx-web-development/
There are also some installers out there that install WordPress inside a server package like this: https://www.wpstuffs.com/install-wordpress-from-mac-app-store/

https://local.getflywheel.com/ is probably the easiest to use and get going with right now.
