I keep on getting this issue: ‘Setup incomplete: continue module setup’

    Time and again.

I’m using the WP Site Kit plugin but it keeps on telling that my setup is incomplete.
All seem to be connected and verified. (I’m doing this inside my WP environment)
I’ve also done the GDPR & US privacy steps.

    And the Adblocker.

    All show ‘1 active’

    What am I missing?

I couldn’t add a video. I have 3 screenshots that I could share but don’t see an upload possibility.

    (@adamdunnage)

@chrissmit You can share your screenshots using this form?which is private. You can also share your Site Health here for us. Otherwise you could share via a Google Drive link. I will await the further information from you before suggesting some further steps.

    Hi Adam,

I’ve filled in the Google form.

With whom do I share my screenshots?

It would be good if the Google form could accept uploads as well.

    Plugin Support Adam Dunnage

    (@adamdunnage)

@chrissmit You can share the screenshots to the form via a URL so for example you could upload your screesnhots to Imgur and then share those screenshot URLs in the form which is private and I will then be able to access those.

Something you can also try is following our troubleshooting steps here. When doing this do you still experience the same issue in Site Kit?

    Thread Starter chrissmit

    (@chrissmit)

    Hi,

Before doing what you earlier suggested, there is one thing that I don’t understand and doesn’t go away.

When I check on the Adsense site under ‘Manage your sites’ and look at ‘ads.txt status’ it says ‘Unauthorized’.

I’m very sure the ads.txt file I had in my Root directory had the correct publisher ID.

I even installed a plugin that should my publisher ID to my website (apparently that is put in the WP DB somewhere and when I check https://culturematters.com/ads.txt it shows).

At the time of this writing I’ve done the above more than 24 hours ago.

    What am I missing here?

    Plugin Support James Osborne

    (@jamesosborne)

Thanks for the update @chrissmit. See below response to your comments:

When I check on the Adsense site under ‘Manage your sites’ and look at ‘ads.txt status’ it says ‘Unauthorized’.

This is a notice from adsense.google.com. Site Kit doesn’t have any ads.txt functionality at present, but you can find more information on ads.txt here. Based on the unauthorized mention, I suspect that your ads.txt file at one time didn’t exist or didn’t contain your own AdSense publisher ID reference, see here. While we’re limited to Site Kit queries, you can use a plugin such as Ads.txt Manager to easily insert an Ads.txt file, although it looks like you did manage to install a plugin to do just that.

I’m very sure the ads.txt file I had in my Root directory had the correct publisher ID.

If you’re sure you have the correct AdSense publisher ID, it’s just a matter of waiting for the AdSense team to review this. I did check your AdSense ID and your ads.txt and it looks like you’re correct, you do have the correct ID defined.

Regarding your initial query, where you could not complete AdSense setup, your AdSense account status appears as the below, as indicated by the Site Health information you kindly shared:
    adsense_site_status: getting-ready

Until the AdSense team review and approved your site, the module will remain in an incomplete status. Hopefully once your site is reviewed by the AdSense team, it will be approved. Once approved you can visit your AdSense settings within Site Kit and complete set up. At that time the module in Site Kit will appear as complete and ads will appear.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you!

    Thread Starter chrissmit

    (@chrissmit)

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update.

It all looks ok. But it doesn’t.

The ads.txt says in green ‘approved’

However, at the top of the page it still says: ‘

Earnings at risk – You need to fix some ads.txt file issues to avoid severe impact to your revenue. Fix now Learn more

    What is going on now?

    Plugin Support James Osborne

    (@jamesosborne)

Thanks for the update @chrissmit. If you have any sites within the “sites” tab from adsense.google.com, which do not have an ads.txt file present and identified, you may see this notice within the Site Kit dashboard, regardless of whether the Site Kit related website is the one with with the ads.txt notification of not.

Do you have any other sites added to your AdSense account?

    Thread Starter chrissmit

    (@chrissmit)

    Hi,

I suddenly saw another site that I own/manage that doesn’t and shouldn’t display adsense.

    I deleted that site.

Now the site where I want ads to display says that the ads.txt is ‘unauthorized’ again.

Not sure how and why this happened.

When I look at my WP backend, the Site Kit plugin says all is good.

Still the pink warning sign is there.

    Plugin Support James Osborne

    (@jamesosborne)

    Thanks for the update @chrissmit

I suddenly saw another site that I own/manage that doesn’t and shouldn’t display adsense.

    I deleted that site.

Great! You therefore should not see any ads.txt related messages within Site Kit.

Now the site where I want ads to display says that the ads.txt is ‘unauthorized’ again.

This is an AdSense status message. If you’re sure you have the correct AdSense publisher ID, and you’re logged into AdSense with the correct Google account, you can reach out to the product experts at the official AdSense Help Center. They should be able to assist with this particular message.

When I look at my WP backend, the Site Kit plugin says all is good.

This is great. I also checked your site and I can see ads rendering.

Let me know if you have any further questions on this. Thank you.
