• Trying to sort this issue out for some time. posted in fix with no answers at all and need to get the system up and running.

my VPS host crashed and I was forced to start the system back up. Now it keeps saying it cannot find the wp-config.php file (does exist and has the correct rights for the system to read). Basically the system is stuck in setup-config.php loop not allowing me to get back into the system.

Here are all the steps I have taken so far.
Ran through the install process after deleting (renaming) wp-config.php to set the file back up.
Manually created wp-config.php with all the correct information.
Started a NEW database to try to get this up and running.
Started a New Schema within the database to attempt to get this up and running.
ran through manually removing a system from maintenance mode (there is no .maintenance file).
    optimized and rebuilt the database.

I am now at my wits end, because I have set everything up and nothing is working.

  • What caused the crash?

I don’t see a maintenance page so I don’t think the site is stuck in maintenance… Let’s rule that out.

The config file seems to have the proper database settings to at least recognize the database…

I see a login modal next. What happens when you provide the proper credentials to the login modal?

During that login (or somewhere earlier) it is supposed to remove the install file or disable its capabilities… That doesn’t seem to be happening. Try to login or work through the recovery sequence for the login…

    Else repair, the login credentials…

If you know the admin name then use this to fix the password…

    Resetting Your Password

Hope something here helps… Else possibly try a restore via your last known good backup.

Sorry for the major delay in replying, life got busy.

I can log in when i hit wp-login.php with one of the admin users no issues and get into the back end. How do I get the install file disabled manually, because it does not seem to be working automatically.

I am hitting up square one again here, and am going to try to get a fresh installation done and set it up that way to see if that fixes the error.
