I am having some issues. These are the steps I took:
    1) I previously tested another plugin. It was so bad I uninstalled it right away
    2) I discovered Tesla and I was tweaking my login page. After a while the “view login” page redirected to 404
    3) I go back to settings and I find that 1st plugin still hanging in my backend. I guessed it had crashed Tesla, so I deleted it again (not before rating it 1 star) and I deleted Tesla as well.
    4) I wasn’t able to logout anymore, it just redirected me to 404 and I was stuck in backend. But this issue resolved by its own after half hour.
    5) Now I reinstalled Tesla because I understood it’s a great plugin.

The problem is that the settings/customizer don’t open up anymore (the page keeps loading). Any advice?

Today the customizer seemed to work. After a few customization, again the login preview page doesn’t open and I cannot log out my backend (it redirects to 404). So the problem is in Tesla and not in the other plugin.
Moreover, uninstalling/deleting Tesla still unables me to log out.
Obviously it crashes the backend. Please come with a solution.

I have discovered that my Wordfence security plugin was blocking my IP after a few attemnpts. That might have triggered a crash with Tesla. I’m gonna install and test again, and eventually come back here to close the ticket.

@teslathemes This is what is posted when that’s found. Yes, it’s a form letter but it’s a good one.

I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.

Please refrain from logging into user’s installation like that. If you feel that’s necessary then please consider taking plugin support to your own site instead.

I take defence for Tesla. They have actually asked for my credentials on their support forum, and I guess they used this forum as a reminder.
They may have broke the rules but were in good faith.
I’m going to keep the discussion on their private forum and closing this thread. Cheers

Thanks, and I do not doubt that they have good intentions. It’s not about about you or this particular plugin author. The forums have to remain a safe place for new and experienced users alike.

There is nothing wrong with authors providing support where they want and that can be on their site, email or anything. And to be frank, outside of these forums isn’t the responsibility of moderators here.

But support in these forums need to avoid these pitfalls. That’s the reminder I was posting.

@jdembowski thanks for the reminder, we will do our best to provide support without needing credentials.
