• Hello,

I’m new to WordPress and i’m not sure what just happened. I’m using the Virtue theme. As I was updating some minor changes (image slider), the site started loading for a very long time, whereafter I lost my complete site: logo/ homepage/ icons/ colors (and other basic settings) gone. Instead, the Virtue example homepage. Texts seem to be intact.

What do I do? I’m not sure how to check if I have a backup. Can someone help me?

    Thank you,
    Hilke

Are you running the latest version, sometimes when you update a theme you can lose all of your personalisations, check you also have the Virtue Toolkit installed which was free too. If you have another theme IE: TwentyFourteen, maybe switch to it and switch back to Virtue. It is odd, sorry I can’t help any further.

    hilkee,
It sounds like your server timed out while trying to save content. That could mean your max php settings on your server are too small. For example your max php memory. It could also just be that your server has a hiccup of sorts. Unless you have a backup you’ve created yourself the only other backup would be if your server auto saves backups of your site. Something you can contact them about. The theme options are all stored in the database so it’s going to be a backup of the database that helps.

You can also ask your server about increasing your max php settings. in the php.ini server file.
