I am having trouble with the content form on my website. I am using Caldera Forms, and have also installed WP Mail SMPT plugin. Can you please clarify the settings that I should be using on it, I have read some conflicting advice from your online support docs.

  • Thanks for using Caldera Forms. We don’t recommend using an SMTP plugin in 2018. They can be a pain to setup and don’t always provide verified sending, which you need to ensure 100% delivery. Nor will a SMTP plugin block spam emails.

Have you taken a look at Caldera Forms Pro? It makes ensuring email delivery simple, blocks spam and comes with priority support and other perks including add-ons and entries to PDF.

I am trying to find a free solution before I tell my client that she is going to have to fork out $164.89. It seems quite a lot, but maybe that’s just because it’s for a small business.

Do you have any other suggestions aside from that?

The first paragraph of Josh response is not actually correct (except for the first sentence ?? ).

It’s easy to setup if a server is configured properly and the plugin too.
You should use SSL with port 465, or TLS with port 587. And you have misconfigured the plugin by using SSL and port 587.

Please try that and come back.

The problem might be (or not) in server misconfiguration (incorrectly generated server certificate or the incorrectly loaded one) – in this case, you need to contact your hosting support.
