Settings not getting into memcached

When i make changes via the admin screens to any plugins or base wordpress settings, they don’t seem to take effect until after i bounce the memcached manually by shutting it down and starting it up. When looking at the memcached server via phpMemcachedAdmin I seem to be getting lots of hits, etc, so I am sure wordpress is using the memcached server, it just doesn’t seem to flush the cached settings when I make a change.
