    Hello Styles

I am currently using Styles 1.0.17 and Styles: TwentyTwelve 1.0.5

I am reluctant to update because last time I did all my settings were lost and I wasted a few hours reconfiguring my site. It made me want to uninstall Styles and learn how to amend the stylesheet.

So can you tell me if I upgrade to 1.0.17 and 1.0.6 will my choices, my settings be lost or preserved?

    Cheers

Issues with losing settings are resolved in the plugin, however, each time Styles makes upgrades to settings, it also backs up the previous settings in the database for 30 days.

If you want to downgrade to your previous version of Styles within those 30 days, you can install the previous version from the list of other versions, and restore your old settings by finding the key like _transient_storm-styles-twentythirteen-pre-1.0.15 in the wp_options table of your database and copying it into storm-styles-twentythirteen.

The key names would vary based on the theme you’re using, and the version number in the backup varies based on what version was being upgraded to.

    Hi Paul

    Thanks for replying

I am little confused, what I expect is when I upgrade my settings are saved automatically. What previously happened was my setting were all rest to default. Will they be saved on this upgrade?

Having to regress to a previous version of your plugin and editing database records is within my capability but not very user friendly.

    Cheers

Your settings will be saved. The error you experienced has been resolved, and there are no longer any known cases where settings are not saved successfully.

The downgrade and backup process is not ideal, but it’s also only meant as a last resort safety net. I do not expect you will need to use it.
