• Hi there,

Does anyone know of a plug-in that would allow a person to select to display pages instead of posts when setting up the WP here:

settings -> reading -> display latest posts

Most themes that I like (I’m fond of the magazine type layouts) the home page displays post excerpts in little boxes, or vertically down the page with some kind of divider between each one or in some other really cool fashion. I need to be able to instead display pages in the same way a theme will display posts on the home page.

I’m surprised this isn’t an available option in the admin.

Or is my only option to copy over all existing pages that use page.php into posts using single.php and then disable the comments on pages made from single.php? Then come up with an alternative page navigation.

    Hope that makes sense.
    Thank you.

  • To change your front page into a static page (as opposed to a posts page) navigate to Admin/Page/Add New to create and publish a new page for the front of your blog.

    Navigate to Admin/Settings/Reading

Under “Front page displays”, check “static page”, choose your new WordPress page from the dropdown and then save your changes.

Other than that, you can simply create pages instead of posts on your site without making any further changes.

    Hi esmi,

Thanks for the info, I already knew I could use a static front page. I guess I wasn’t clear, sorry. I love the varied posts on the home page that using “Your Latest Posts” gives me. What I would like to do is to display my pages that way on the home page instead of posts. I would like my pages to display as excerpts there instead of my posts.

    Hopefully, that clears things up.
