    Yep. that is how the plugin works

    No. all the plugin does is remove the methods relating to pingback from WordPress’s XML-RPC method list.

    How can I tell it’s working?

    It may be a bit complicated but i used this: https://xmlrpc.eritreo.it

    If you submit your site and search its logs for “pingback.ping” and “pingback.extensions.getPingbacks” it should return no results
