We are working on a site hosted with WP Engine. The site has a URL and at first we were getting a message for an invalid URL. I did a search and found a thread from other users who said it was related to a site having an HTTPS URL. We do have SSL on the site.

WP Engine worked on the SSL to create a rule exception so the page with the calendar does not use HTTPS. I was able to get past the first error screen, and get to the place where I’d add the event to my google calendar after logging in, but now I get a new message that there is a “Settings Error” and “Could not fetch the URL”.

The calendar event from the site did not save to my actual google calendar. See ss https://cl.ly/161L2p2N0l0n

Hi Andrew,

Is there a reason why only the calendar page is HTTP? Please activate HTTPS on that page and I will check the issue again.

Yes, when we have it set to HTTPS then are issues. There are several posts online regarding this. I’ve been working with WP Engine hosting to create an exception to not have the HTTP on the calendar page. I’m not sure if this is the original post I found on this issue, but it does mention it.

Thanks for your help here, Benjamin, I really appreciate it! The school really loves the calendar plugin, but also wants the Google add to calendar to work as many users will use this function. It would be ideal if it worked with HTTPS easily.

I was able to get WP Engine to remove the SSL on the string. I tested adding a date to Google Calendar and it seems to go through but the date does not get saved to the actual calendar when I check it.

Hi Andrew,

I’m not sure I understand, you changed the date on Google calendar, not Timely calendar? Where the date is not preserved?

I did not change any dates. I just tried adding an event from the AIO calendar to the google account. It seems to be working now. It might have been the caching rules with WP Engine and the last tweak they did might have made it work .
