• Hi all,

I am new to WP and have started to set up a site with Elementor and am looking for some help, please. I don’t have any programming or coding skills and am hoping a straightforward way or plug-in exists to help me achieve my goal with the site.

In a nutshell, I’d like to have people be able to search for a food product from the homepage, using the search box, which would then display a list of page results. They could search by country or by food item name.

I want to create individual product pages with a template, that could be linked to a parent page (e.g. the country the food is from) and displayed in a list under that country’s page or accessed directly via the search. So there would be country pages, which would then have product pages under them – but I’d prefer not to have a giant list of pages displayed on the site, if that makes sense.

Could anyone please point me in the right direction to make this happen? I would think I’d need to create a database with a line and relevant info for each food item and then have it be searchable and display as individual pages (but am not sure how to do this)…is there an easier way? I’ve been searching and trying to figure it out for some time and don’t seem to be getting anywhere. I would truly appreciate any help.

    Thanks so much!

  • You could use Woocommerce in catalog mode for this. Or you could create post categories for each country and utilize your theme templates for food item page layouts. If you’re looking for a robust search plugin check out https://www.ajaxsearchpro.com. There is a free and paid version of the plugin available. I am using the paid version on one of my client sites.

    Hi Tim,

Thank you so much for the speedy and helpful reply! I’ll check out that free version of Ajax Search, along with Woocommerce (which I had thought was only for online shopping) – the catalog mode could be a great solution).

Thanks again for your help & have a great one.
