Setting up pages and threads for blog highlights

Hi,

I have setup a very basic blog but have gone and gotten myself a wee bit confuzzled.

My objective;

A nice easy to update blog.

4 pages:

Page 1 – Homepage (This is a page that includes highlights of every post made on the blog). if you like a headline click through and read the entire post.

Page 2 – Blog (This is a blog, that I can update via WordPress on iPad, phone and/or Internet)

Page 3 – Breakdowns (This is a content specific page with stories I create. I wish to update stories on here quite regularly so it would also need to be in a blog type format)

Page 4 – Tutorials/Tips (Like page 3, this is a content specifc page with stories I create and would need to be updated regularly.

My questions…

Is there a theme out there that will let me have post highlights on the home page?

Do I need to make multiple blogs (a blog for each page) or can I do it all within one wordpress blog?

Thanks in advance. I have built a few fairly nice websites over the years using HTML, Flash and even dabbled with wordpress but this if my first time I am going it alone and I am somewhat out of touch, so go easy on me please and thanks again for any help.

Problems I am having:

1 – If I make a post say via my iPad it appears on the homepage and I can’t seem to set what page I want it to appear on (for example my blog page).

2 – I can’t seem to add multiple consecutive posts to the pages I have setup. IE so everytime I post to that page it shows up at the top of the page and in an ideal world the home page would feature a highlight+ image of that post.

I have been playing around trying to fix this nearly all day now. Would really like to get a basic framework setup before bed so any help appreciated, respected and I will be forever indebted to your great self.
