I am trying to follow the steps for setting up the firewall. I use Siteground and so even after it says installation was successful I still see the message that I need to finish setting up the optimization.

I am not sure what path to write. The directions say “You will need the path to the wordfence-waf.php file, similar to /home/username/public_html/wordfence-waf.php. If you are not sure of the full path for your site, please contact us for help.”

I would appreciate any help in understanding what the full path is for my specific site.

    Thank you!
    Kendra

  • Hi @kendrkaye,

The wordfence-waf.php file is located in the directory specified in the $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] variable.

You can check its value on the Wordfence System Info page:

I also recommend this post which discusses issues related to the firewall optimization on SiteGround.

Thank you so much for your reply.

I have gone back to the Wordfence settings in WordPress and tried to go through the steps outlined for Siteground users, however, when I get to the step that says to select “manual configuration” there is no such option in the pull-down menu where it lists web server configurations.

    What might be happening here?

    Thank you,
    Kendra

    Hi@kendrkaye,

The latest Wordfence version (7.1.2) includes an improved flow for generating the WAF auto prepend file and retrieving the path for manual installations.

Are you able to proceed after updating the plugin?
