Setting up Event page with sub pages

Just wondering if someone can assist me- doing an event page for my sports association and have gone to new pages and placed it in with just a heading and the idea would be to have sub pages for each month . I then did another new page with the heading January 2014 but when I look to link it back to the parent page the event page is not in the drop down list? Also I want it to appear under one of the menus on the front web page how can I do that? I would also like to link maybe a result and photo gallery page as well – is that easy? So sorry I am new to wordpress. Thank you again
