Setting up archive

I have been posting my blog by email and am just shifting to a proper hosted blog site using WordPress. I have many old posts which I want to put in my archive and back-date the posts to the dates they were sent out by email. Sort of an instant archive. Of course once I have done that I want new posts to go into the archive and be dated in the ordinary way. How do I create the initial archive?
