Setting up a page that has secure items

  • Client has a Contact Form 7 form that has a couple of sensitive items pertaining to financial details. The form is sent through email. So I need to make these items secure but I’m not sure how to go about it.

    First, hosting is shared, but domain has its own IP.

    Do I need a SSL certificate for what I want to do? The guy who runs the hosting doesn’t know anything about SSL certificates (it’s a unusual setup that would take too long to explain, but he only hosts 2 or 3 sites and they don’t need SSL). Does HE need to install anything? Can I do everything through the Cpanel?

    More importantly, are there any good sites that explain this stuff in straightforward tutorial style. I was not able to find anything.
