  • Probably a filter for this, but no idea. Yoast won’t tell you how to do that even with PRO account (stock answer = “hire a programmer”) ??

    So, not sure.

OG image is generally taken from the featured image as this is now the default method for specifying “main image” in WordPress. So, this allows you to make one image top of page in a post, but different image be the shared image based on what you choose as featured image box right side of post window.

Some themes the feautured image is the post image; others, it’s ancillary.

Looks OK to me, so assume you got this sorted.

Thank you all! It is still a mystery how come this url was set by Yoast in the first place, but after some digging I have managed to set a designated image for the homepage, and that, apparently fixed it:
Homepage edit screen -> Yoast SEO box -> on the box’ left there are three buttons: the traffic lights icon, a settings icon and a social/share icon. clicking on that last icon enables the editing of the page’s social settings. It was rather hard to figure out, but apparently that did the trick.

Heh. Yeah, just had to add the %%pagenumber%% element to that very same box for home since we have pagination for blog style index, and page 3,4 had no page numbers — %%page%% can’t be used (since it’s unable to figure page x of x). Doh.

    Always a fun time! ??

Used to be you could just “set featured image” from the box on right side of the static home page to set default image. I think it still does, but easily overlooked, and maybe not image wanted for FB, where you have to use the bottom item in the editor box for Yoast on static page to get that.

    Glad you figured it out!
