    Hi,
I would like to notify you that setting a location through Lat/Long does not work as expected in Geo My WP 2.1.

    Use case:

    1) On a new post, drag the pin on the map to place it in a location far from a physical address (example, I am marking a bay in Cooper Island, British Virgin Island). The correct Latitude and Longitude are shown below the map in the Latitude/Longitude fields.

    2) Press Get Address, as per instructions, to “move” the coordinates to the Saved Data fields. This also has the effect to lookup an address for the Lat/Long pair, which in this case results to be on a completely different location (another island far away). The Lat/Long are updated according to the looked up address, resulting in a totally different location, however the pin on the map stays where originally placed. This is a misleading visual clue that the intended location is saved, while a totally different one is actually stored, far away from the original one.

In fact, once the map is displayed in the post through [gmw_single_location], the pin appears in the new (saved) location and not the originally intended one.

Is there a way to save the originally set Lat/Long despite the fact that the Get Address returns a different location and Lat/Long set?
Or to avoid having to go through the Get Address if the user decides to mark a location just by Lat/Long?

If someone wants to mark a place in the middle of the sea or on a mountain, far from any physical address, this it is not possible with the current behavior of the plugin.

Thanks in advance for a fix!

    HI,
I will have to take a look at this post again later as i am just about to leave the house. I will check it out again tomorrow and see where the issues is and if there is a quick fix.

Also, if you don’t mind, it will be much helpful for me and for other users if you’ll post any other issues, questions or suggestions in the forum of the plugin’s website

    Thank you,

    Thank you Eyal!

I originally intended to post this request to your site, but in the registration process you ask for too many mandatory information (some personal, like date of birth or gender, some totally weird like dance level or fruit?!?), so I gave up and opted to post it here instead.

If you decide to simplify the registration process to your site and limit it to more essential and necessary information, I will be glad to register and post future similar messages to your forum.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi,
I understand. The purpose of the registration process is to demonstrate the integration of GEO my WP with Buddypress members. Using GEO my WP you can also add location to buddypress members and create a search form that will query results based on the address entered and also based on the different profile fields exists. that is why i created random profile fields ( but i also like fruit ) :).
I already changed the fields to be not mandatory and later i will add a message for the users to understand better the purpose of it.
Also, you can always enter any random data in the birthday field, name and so on. the only field should be real is the email address.
The information you enter during the registration is being used only for the reason above.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I will make a post on my blog later to let users understand that as well.

    Thank you
    Eyal

    Hi Eyal,
thanks for your quick action! I think you took the right decision to have more people join in. I have indeed subscribed to the GeoMyWP forum on your site and re-submitted this bug report there.
Looking forward to your analysis and possibly a fix. ??
    Kind Regards,
    viceversa
