First, let me say that after going through 4 gallery plugins in the last week, spending incredible numbers of hours trying to configure them to work the way I’d like, and hunting all over the Internet for arcane hacks to try to get around limitations, I stumbled on Envira Lite and it does what I’m after – a page with thumbnails that a user can click, that opens a detail image from which they can navigate through images and get back to the thumbnails…….

SO, of course, I decided to try setting defaults. And I found the place with the example: https://enviragallery.com/docs/modify-envira-setting-defaults/
And I looked at the example, which says that piece of code “all of your thumbnails will default to 125×100 instead of the 75×50 that Envira itself sets”.
I’m very new to WordPress and VERY new to plugins, but I have NO idea where in these defaults it sets anything to 125×100. Can somebody explain how this is working? I can see crop heights and widths and mobile heights and widths and stuff, but where is the “125” for thumbnail width?

  • Hi Gracie,

Are you using Envira Lite or the pro version of Envira?

The user is using Envira Lite.

The listed documentation is no longer supported, and was only intended for developers.

If you’d like to define preset defaults for any Galleries that you create, I’d suggest the paid version of Envira.

If not, you’re welcome to adjust the settings for your Envira Lite Galleries, where you can tweak thumbnail sizes etc. as you require through the WordPress Admin UI.

    Thanks.

    Yes, it’s the Lite version.

Thanks for the replies. Is there any sort of documentation that explains how to modify defaults through the WordPress Admin UI?

I found the Envira Gallery Documentation (there’s a pointer off the example that apparently is no longer supported – which makes me wonder why it’s still there if it doesn’t work any more), and found a variety of defaults that, in theory, can be set. But using the example, so far, none of them appear to actually work. So, being far from an expert at WordPress is there something in the Envira documentation that will provide information on how to actually make changes to the defaults in the Admin UI?

    Hi Gracie,

When using Envira Lite it is not possible to modify the defaults as you’re seeking — you must manually configure each gallery.

The licensed version of Envira Gallery makes it possible to use the Defaults Addon (https://enviragallery.com/addons/defaults-addon/) to configure the defaults to use when creating new galleries/albums. You’ll need a Gold or Platinum license to use the Defaults Addon: https://enviragallery.com/pricing/#pricing-table-comparison

    Thanks!
