• I am trying to understand the setup steps needed for getting GDPR Cookie Consent Plugin by WebToffee to work with GTM4WP.

I get confused because the example has categories of:

    1. Necessary
    2. Statistics
    3. Marketing / Advertising

And the GDPR Cookie Consent Plugin by WebToffee comes setup with six out of the box:

    1. advertisement
    2. analytics
    3. functional
    4. necessary
    5. others
    6. performance

In the section “How to set up the update command in Google Tag Manager?,” am supposed to create six variables in GTM of:

    • consent_data.advertisement
    • consent_data.analytics
    • consent_data.functional
    • consent_data.necessary
    • consent_data.others
    • consent_data.performance

And then do all the steps needed for each?

I was uncertain if I was to only add variables other than the standard defaults.

In the “How to setup the update command in Google Tag Manager?” the setup tag does not match the instructions.

WebToffee just said your instructions are oldand don’t apply anymore. More importantly, they saidyour integration is bogus and will break their plugin. I am totally confused now.

Thanks for reaching out to WebToffee! My name is Mark and I’m here to assist you.

The article provided by GTM4WP seemed to be associated with our old version. This may be applicable when Google Consent Mode was not included by default in our plugin.?

Now, our plugin is at version 2.5.9. You have the option to enable GCM v2 within the plugin UI. If you have a GTM account and tags are set already in it then just enable the?GCM option in the General tab of the plugin settings and map the existing cookie categories to the consent parameters from the mapping screen.

If you intend to use the GTM4WP ?plugin, then do not set up GCM through GTM4WP ?and disable our plugin integration option within GTM4WP (it will not work with our latest version).

    Regards,
    Mark
