    Hi

I use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 on my page. I configured the complianz plugin accordingly.

I set up my GA4 tag in the Tag Manager with the trigger statistics (cmplz_event_statistics). That works well but I have an issue with my events. I want my events to be visible in GA4 so I believe I need to set my tag to “GA4-Event” and set up my trigger as usual. That leads to my tags being fired before the user gives consent (to statistics).

What do I have to change so all of my tags are only fired after giving consent and the events are imported into GA4?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi @leakplan,

I see that the thread had already been marked as resolved, have you already managed to address this, or was it accidentally marked as such?

In any case: I suspect that our earlier article on the use of “Exceptions in Tag Manager based on consent status” will suffice for your purpose.

Hope it helps, let me know if you require any further assistance with this.

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

@jarnovos I actually have another issue now: The Tag Manager is loaded before any consent (the tags are not fired). I tried to follow these instructions: https://complianz.io/how-to-set-google-tag-manager-after-consent-and-is-it-needed/ but it’s not working.

Could you help me with that?

    Thank you!

    Hi @leakplan,

At what part of the instructions are you getting stuck? Perhaps you could provide an URL to your site, so I can take a look at the current implementation?

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

@jarnovos I did everything in the instructions but the Tag Manager is still loaded before a user gives consent.

Can I send you a private message with the URL? It’s password protected at the moment.

@jarnovos There was a mistake on my end. It works now.

    Thank you!

    Hi @leakplan,

Great, thanks a lot for confirming!

Feel free to reach out if you have further questions about the plugin.

    Kind regards,

    Hi @jarnovos & @leakplan,

May I ask how you solved the problem? I have the same problem.

I have already configured the compliance plugin in WordPress and the tag manager was integrated via the plugin GTM4WP. I have set the appropriate triggers in the Tag Manager as described here: https://complianz.io/definitive-guide-to-tag-manager-and-complianz/ but the tags (GA4/UA/Google Ads Conversion Tracking) fire though you click on reject. Do you have to somehow implement an additional code snippet in the website with the events that the triggers work or what do you think is the problem here?

It would be great if you could help me.

Kind regards and have a nice weekend,

    Theresa

    Hi @theresainboundbuzz

I think my mistake was that I implemented the Tag Manager on the wrong place in the complianz plugin. First I had it implemented under Integrations/Script-Center but that didn’t work.

I added the “Tag Manager” (no code) in the plugin here: Assistent/2. consent/service description (My plugin is in German so the labelling might be a bit different). There I have a tab called “Google Tag Manager” service”.

I think that was all I had to do.

    Hi @theresainboundbuzz,

If you have configured GTM4WP to place your GTM script on the site, as well as that you have Complianz configured to integrate with GTM4WP under Complianz > Integrations > Plugins by enabling the slider next to GTM4WP:

Then all you’d really need to do from here is to fire your tags on the desired consent trigger in your Tag Manager container, instead of a trigger such as “All Pages”, which would fire it regardless of consent. You can import the triggers in your GTM container directly, so that you don’t have to create them manually.

You may reach us via support(at)complianz.io for further assistance, as posting in ‘old’ WP forum threads might cause us to miss your replies.

    Kind regards,
    Jarno
