Set-up & display blog within own template

Hello there. I’m brand new to WP.

I’ve been designing a website for my girlfriend (Sarah) and decided to use WP to easily allow her to post all about her various events and media postings…

I have templates set up for the other webpages on the site using Adobe GoLive (CS2). Is there a way I can maintain my standard template (i.e. not WP’s templates) and post these WP postings to it? I’m really new and don’t exactly know how to set WP up. If there’s an instruction guide, please let me know. Thank you!!!
