Is it possible to run code that deletes PayPal cookies when a buyer goes opens the checkout page. ?
I ask because because I want all buyers to be presented with the “Checkout as Guest” by default.

At present, if a buyer has used Paypal previously, they will be presented with a PP login form with their email address already entered in the box.

This confuses those who prefer to use a credit or debit card and I reckon we loose sales because of it. It’s real PITA

    Hello @trapbarn

    Thanks for your message!

From what I read, it look like you would like to enable the “Checkout as guest” for all of your customers, this independent if they have purchased before in your store.

This is not an option out of the box. PayPal will store cookies to remember the client’s account if they are returning.

The information posted by PayPal in the checkout form varies as all buyers don’t always have the option to complete their purchases without using or creating a PayPal account.

However, y are a couple options you can try:

    * Here you can find more information on PayPal’s: How do I accept credit cards with Checkout using the Guest Checkout option?
    * WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > PayPal Checkout, and choose the Billing (Non-PayPal account) option from there. This would allow you to help accept payments from customers that don’t have a PayPal account, or for those others that want to pay by credit card without having to go through a PayPal login.

Thanks, but I already have it set to:- Billing (Non-PayPal account but the if the PP cookie exists it brings this up…

So on a small screen, like a cell phone, the buyer does not see the “Pay by Debit or Credit card” button.

    What I want is this…

    or even better this….

Why not give the buyer a clear and simple choice rather than have the Paypal branding dominate and confuse the situation?

Also, it’s not a matter if hey have purchased from our store before. If they have ever logged into PP on that machine before to any web site then this PP cookie dictates what page the buyer sees.

This cookie is obviously intended to prioritise payment via the PP in house facility rather than handle the payment with bank card.

This predisposition has unintended consequences so that the buyer abandons the purchase because he/she cannot see readily see how to pay by card.

Kindly do not rush to mark this as resolved because it is not.

    Hi @trapbarn,

Perhaps upgrading to PayPal Payments (https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-paypal-payments/) would be ideal in this situation. PayPal Payments is a newer, free extension that has the same and more features than older extensions.

Your customers would see this at checkout and could choose between the two:

We’ve put together a guide documenting upgrading to PayPal Payments at https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/paypal-payments-upgrade-guide/.

    Hopefully this is helpful!

Sorry, but I tried the new Paypal Payments and this did not change what the buyer is presented with.
If you look at Paypal’s own web site you will see this……..
    Browser cookies determine Checkout view

The buyer’s checkout view on PayPal depends on their web browser’s cookies:
If a PayPal cookie has been created: When the buyer lands on a PayPal page, they’ll see the PayPal Login but still have the option to select “Guest Checkout” or “Don’t have a PayPal Account?”
If a PayPal cookie hasn’t been defined: The buyer sees a default view of Guest Checkout allowing for debit or credit payment.

The above explains it better than I did earlier.

It is the predetermined bias towards PayPal and it’s domination that causes the issue with the cookie and this persists with PP Payments.

    The cookie has to go

    Hi there!

I see how that can be frustrating.

I’m not sure if we would have a lot of options on that, but I believe that we would need to contact the PayPal Payments team and see if there are alternatives or at least add as a feature request.

In this case, you can create a ticket that will be sent to them and they’ll be able to help you further.

Please navigate to the ticket form from the link below and select the PayPal Payments extension in the **I need help with** dropdown: https://cld.wthms.co/6NYfit

    https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/?form=ticket

If you don’t see all your purchased extensions in the list, please use the Search box to locate it.`

Thanks, but my understanding is that the plugin was the result of a joint operation between Woo and PP.
That said, may I ask you to develop this issue and achieve a result?

    Hi there!

I don’t see that as a possibility on WooCommerce PayPal Checkout because we are going to close the lifecycle of this plugin soon, so it wouldn’t make sense to add new features.

When it comes to PayPal Payments, that could be a possibility, but this extension is supported by a different team, so I would recommend you to follow my last reply steps for contacting their team. ??
