• I made no changes or updates to anything on my site and all of the sudden, I’m unable to change the featured image on a page. The remove featured image link doesn’t work. If I click on the featured image in the featured image box, it brings up the media library. I can upload or choose a different image but the set featured image button doesn’t work. The cursor doesn’t even change when you hover over the button. The add image button doesn’t work either if I’m just trying to add an image.

I’ve updated to the latest version of WP hoping that would help but it doesn’t. I’ve updated then deactivated all my plugins (only 3) and that didn’t help. I changed to the 2017 theme, and that didn’t help. I’m at a loss of what to do! Please tell me there’s something to do other than start with a clean install.

    Thanks for any help!

Try to deactivate ALL Plugins, NOT ONLY 3.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Thanks, t-p, I’ll give that a try. I did deactivate ALL plugins – I only have 3 of them on the site. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

Try Troubleshooting with your browser: Your browser can also help you identify JavaScript issues or conflicts and this article can assist you in doing that diagnosis. This could help identify Visual Editor issues as well.

Okay, so I tried doing a fresh install of WordPress and am still having the issue. I then checked one of my other wordpress sites and it is having the same issue. I’ve checked both in the major browsers. Doesn’t work in any of them. So, this isn’t site specific. What could be going on?

Have you tried Troubleshooting with your browser: Your browser can help you identify JavaScript issues or conflicts and this article can assist you in doing that diagnosis.

I have the same issue. Oddly enough if I snap the browser to the left side of the screen, the button works again. It’s like something is killing everything on the bottom left of the screen. When the screen is full screen, I can’t even right-click on anything to bring up inspect.

Try to minimize the screen and relocate it so the button in question is physically on the other side of the screen and see if it works.
