My largest images are background images (which keeps them from loading on different screen sizes). Can Imagify serve background images in WebP? What do I need to do to make this work?

For what it’s worth, I use Kinsta hosting (have already had them reconfigure server config files on Nginx). I plan to use Sucuri’s Firewall (CDN).

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,

The only way to deliver WebP to background images is by using rewrite rules method as it would fetch these images. The only thing to have in mind is that it would not work with CDN/Cloudflare. So if you use CDN/Cloudflare, it would not work. The reason is that we can not control its’ cache so WebP would be delivered even to browsers that do not support this format. So you would not be able to use Sucuri (CDN feature specifically) or any other CDN.

Hello, how can I confirm that the WebP option is active and how can I confirm which images I have converted to WebP? Thank you!

    Hey,

    Thanks for your patience!

You can follow this guide – https://imagify.io/documentation/how-to-check-if-webp-image-is-displayed-on-your-site/

You can see if WebP exists for image in Media Library (List View), in Imagify column (“More details”) or by checking the file URL directly by appending”.webp” to original image URL.

    Best Regards
