• I hope it is 2.1 that I am using? Oh dear, all of these questions that I can’t answer and I’m so sorry.

In my inbox this morning I saw that I had comments to approve. When I clicked on the link to my blog I got the following message (cut and pasted below). I have also tried to type the address into my browser with the same results.

I have absolutely no idea of what I’m doing. I did the “search” for similar problems – found one – but the dialog was way above my vocabulary.

I will appreciate any help ~Donna

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

  • It sounds like your database isn’t running anymore. Contact your host and ask them to check the status of your database. Also check the contents of you wp-config.php file to see if they correspond to the login information for you database.

Thank you Jeremy. I will contact the woman that set it up for me and let her know what is going on. I have no idea what you just said so I am going to copy it for her. You are a gem. ~Donna
