• The WordPress site at baptistnews.com/perspectives has way too many open connections from the server. This is causing the server load to skyrocket and site outages. Below is the message that’s showing up in logs at 100+ simultaneous times.

    173.199.181.36 – – [17/Feb/2015:07:10:53 -0500] “GET /perspectives/feed/ HTTP/1.1” 301 20 “https://www.baptistnews.com/perspectives/feed/” “SimplePie/1.2 (Feed Parser; https://simplepie.org; Allow like Gecko) Build/20090627192103”

Thanks for any help you can offer.

It sounds like someone is repeatedly viewing your feed. Do you recognize that IP?

    It’s the server’s own IP.

    Hm, ok that’s weird.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
