‘server error’, blank screen after installing

  • Just installed and activated jc-importer 0.7.1 on WordPress 4.9.4 on macbook pro local environment with no other plugins active and now both backend and frontend of site won’t load. There’s a ‘server error 500’ message: “The website encountered an error while retrieving https://localhost/sandbox/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1&s=. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.” All other sites/plugins on the macbook seem fine. There’s no temporary ‘maintenance’ file in the site directory holding things up. Reverted to jc-importer Version 0.5 and things seem to work fine.

    Hi Roger,

    Sorry to hear you are having issues, this 500 error is something i have not come across, The internals of the importer have changed quite alot since 0.5.

    Do you by any chance have an server error log for that 500 error? or are you able to provide some information of your local setup?

    How did you setup your local environment, what software did you use? Do you know the php version, and what php extensions do you have loaded.

    Yeah, I should have included my local environment info as it is possibly a factor – though I haven’t had this sort of issue until now (Looked around for the plugin requirements, but didn’t find). Software is pretty far behind – OSX 10.75, PHP 5.3.28 (guessing default setup – didn’t turn on anything special at install), mysql 5.6.13, Apache/2.2.26.

    Here’s a sampling of apache error log:
