Serve cached pages to logged in users

    Hi Support,

    in a user forum we’re discussion what this option is made for:

    “Serve cached pages to logged in users”

    Looking at the help (explanation behind questionmark: “Enable this option if you do not have user-specific or restricted content on your website.”) tells what story? I don’t get it.

    My first thought was that a logged-in user should not see a cached version of a page after she changed soemthing — but then I found this explanation here in the support section:

    “When you save a page, or settings in the customizer, the cache is purged (either for that page, or for the whole site).”

    So what is a real life scenario wehre the option should be used or not? There’s nothing aboout this in the online manual, by the way.

  • Hi Frank,

    One scenario is if you have a shop, and a customer logs into their account. The special pages such as “My account” an “Cart” aren’t cached by default, but there’s sometimes no reason to not cache product pages or other general pages.
    So in this instance, serving cached pages to a logged-in user will be relevant.

    Any similar situation where a user can login, but most pages are the same, no mater if logged in or not.

    I’m really sorry but i still didn’t get it. Actually, i was going to create a new topic after reading this:

    Because i was not able to solve an issue: when logged in, if i go to my website page, i got a “THERE HAS BEEN A CRITICAL ERROR ON YOUR WEBSITE” page. If i’m not logged in, it’s fine.

    After reading @frank-j message, i try to enable the “Serve cached pages to logged in users” and it works fine now even when logged in. However, i’m not sure to well understand the impact that could have on my customer and the cart/checkout page.

    Also @marcusig since you are also using Divi, would you recommend to add this “add_filter(‘wpo_purge_all_cache_on_update’, ‘__return_true’);” to function.php when using Wp-Optimize and Divi?
