We are using the latest/greatest Sermon Manager, and while I can get to a list of sermons from the front page or menu with:

    ?post_type=wpfc_sermon

I cannot get a plain old Page entry with the shortcode [sermons] to work. It generates a 403 Forbidden page error. Or any other sermon-related shortcode from the list, for that matter.

This is a new Divi theme and new Sermon Manager as of a few weeks ago.

Thank you in advance for suggestions.

    Hi!

That is a really weird issue.

We have tried to reproduce it, but shortcode ([sermons]) worked each time in our tests. There’s either a bug that we already fixed, or some sermon content is throwing off the error mechanism.

To test the first theory, please do the following:
    1. Deactivate and remove existing Sermon Manager (no data will be lost)
    2. Install and activate development version

After doing those steps, just please reload the page with shortcodes, and it will (hopefully) work. As we said, no data will be lost, and you will be able to revert to latest official Sermon Manager release (2.12.2) at any time. But there’s no harm in running development version, since it contains the same code that will be soon released into Sermon Manager.

To test the second theory, just temporarily disable the latest 10 sermons. (you can move them to trash and then just restore, if trash is enabled)
If there’s still an error, disable 10 more. If there’s still an error, could you please send us an email to [email protected] ?

Tip: Use [sermons] shortcode, without any additional options, for testing. Maybe some option is creating the issue.

I doubt this is a plugin issue, but it still may be something we can help with. Do you have access to your web server’s access/error logs?

Please do as @nikolam recommended, but if that doesn’t reveal anything, we should look at the logs.

As I was staring at the web site following your directions … I realized what the problem probably is.

We’ve got a directory sitting in the root of the site called … /sermons

I deleted the Page itself and made a new one with a different name, messages, and VOILA! We’re in business.

I’ve got other questions, but I’m going to leave that til tomorrow.

Thank you for your answer. It got me to thinking … that really IS a weird thing to happen.
