I’m using 4.1. Using various themes catchbox, evolution, 2015 etc. Whichever of them I use I have a gigantic Leave a Reply at the bottom.

So I went into Settings, Discussion Allow people to post comments on new articles.

It was unchecked. Checked homepage. Leave a Reply still there. Refresh. Yep. Still there. Used Firefox, Chrome. Private window. Nothing.

So I checked allow people to post comments on new articles. Saved. Unchecked it. Saved. Refresh.

    Leave a Reply still there!

  • After you disable comments for all new posts. You have to go back disable comments for every post and page you’ve already created.

Even though it pertains to WordPress.com, it can still be of some help.

That didn’t work but you saved me anyway so thanks!

I forgot to add when you are editing or adding a new post/page there is no option anywhere to turn comments off.

BUT, if you click on the pages or posts heading and then hover over the page/post you want to turn comments off and hit “quick edit” there will be a box there checked next to “allow comments”.

You’re gonna wanna uncheck that before you kill someone! I mean, yeah just uncheck that and you should be good.

WordPress, please, a huge on/off, default across the board, circuit breaker type switch – comments on/off button please.

    Thanks Marc! Made me think!
