Serious Support for Pie Register

  • This is an appeal to the maintainers of late Reg Plus, now Pie Register.

    As you can tell this is a very much used plugin as it is a very useful and fully featured one. A great plugin from a user standpoint.
    However, it seems that from the developer standpoint it is full of flaws.
    Searching on the WP forums, people report a wide range of issues on a wide range of wp installation versions. I am just guessing this is due to the bad interaction that the plugin has with other plugins.

    On my side I see some improvement compared to Reg Plus, but the same main error stay (suddenly and for no apparent reason the whole settings disappear and I have to reset everything from anew. At times it even causes bad errors in the DB so that I have to go in and repair them).

    This has become a heavy maintenance and even potentially dangerous plugin. So before any further feature development I ask the maintainers to provide a stable version for the current plugin.

  • Yes, please get this plug-in working correctly, especially with WP 3.0 please. The features are unbeatable, if they’d just work.

    I just tried it with a new WP3.0 site. It does not seem to work properly. Just had to delete it. Too bad looks like it would have been good.

    The original version of this plug-in (Register Plus) still works fine with WP-3 however the old option of allowing users to log in using the same email address is now broken. That was a very handy feature for troubleshooting a site… use your own email address with multiple fake users until you get the registration and permissions bugs out. Now, with WP-3 you have to use unique email addresses at registration or you will get the following error…
    “Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home1/xxxxxxxxxx/public_html/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 2772“
    If the Dev or any coders know a way around this so we can fix Registration Plus please speak up?

    I can’t get either to work in WPMU.
    Has anyone else figured it out?

    I forked Register Plus into Register Plus Redux to fix just these types of problems. Give it a try if you’d like. I still don’t support WPMU either but I am working on that.

    same for me. I’ve to uninstall it.
    It’s a pity, it should have been a 1st class plug in, but some little bugs prevent from using it.
